Giant's Grave by alice-top Giant's Grave by alice-top
Erm, yeah. A while ago I had the urge to paint a weird scene, and so I got this. Not really much to say about it, other than although I like the trees and I hate the water. I also wish it had more contrast, but meh.

sweeeeet. I love the partially buried skeletal bits and this is just very lovely in general! great painting skeels. <: I must say part of the land/dirtmound jutting out on the right looks like a strawberry.

i think it captures the inquisitiveness of children....who escaped the orphan land, and was found looking at a giant...her corpse was later laid to rest there...tee hee.

magical. I love the bones, peeking out from the soil. And this gives off some sort of creepy glow, ahh I really like how you're branching out and taking steps towards realism like this. Lovely.

I also like the trees. I feel like Bambi could come strolling onto the scene.

I love this; its so eerie and ominous. The concept is brilliant and the colouring, lighting, composition, all of it is just great. You definitely have talent with traditional mediums. :)

I think the lighting could've been a bit more contrasted, but that's just me :) I'm glad you like it, though! I guess I don't have to change anything :XD: Thanks!

This is an interesting piece. Something out of the usual from what I normally see from you. (not that your art is bad or anything, they rockz), very well painted. You can definitely paint better than I can. ><

Amazing work on this.

Thanks :) I actually have a lot of practice paintings like this, but it's too closely referenced from another picture so I don't upload them :XD: Thank you also for noticing, I'm really trying to vary my gallery a bit.

Personally i think it captures the inquisitiveness of children. and the mystery of the world.I know it was not meant for something like that, but looking at this painting, I think theres more to be said about it rather then it just being a painting.

I would also like to think the giant is me.

:iconisayplz: What a nice perspective! I guess it could be all in the girl's pretending imagination as well. Too bad I didn't think of these things when I painted it :iconwalleyedplz:

This is actually depicting the future, where you ARE the deceased giant. I'm glad you caught that.

This is amazing!! I love it!! I would be so excited if I found something like that.
Why is it that the characters are always wearing cute little dresses when they find weird things? haha My Neighbor Totoro is what I'm thinking of XD

Me too! I always wanted to be a paleontologist/anthropologist when I was a kid, and might still pursue it :D

Lol I'm glad you mentioned the lighting...normally I touch it up a bit in Painter, but this time (other than obvious contrast adjustment) I only used ONE stroke or airbrushing for a ray of light! : D haha orz

Thanks for your compliments! :iconspinplz:

Ah! That's the thing I wanted to achieve that I forgot to mention in the comments. I love stuff like that, I think it's creepier than stuff that's MADE to be scary, like life-like robots.

Thanks for this, I'm happy you mentioned it!

I think it's stuff like that that appeals to me so much. When something can look so traditional and beautiful at a quick glance, but if you understand what is going on in the picture you actually realize there's something not quite right. So interesting. I would love to see more of these types of works in the future.
